Step by step in Network Solutions

Point your MX records

MX records tell every other mail server where to deliver email for your domain. They must point to your provider and nowhere else.

Type
MX
Refers to
@
Priority

In Network Solutions

  1. On Manage Advanced DNS Records, select +ADD RECORD.
  2. Under Type, choose MX.
  3. Set Refers to @, enter the Mail server and the Priority, and pick a TTL.
  4. Select ADD.
  5. Delete any other MX records: select the edit tool, then Delete.
  6. Repeat for each MX record above.

Add the SPF record

SPF is a TXT record that lists the services allowed to send email from your domain, so receivers can spot forgeries.

@
TXT Value
v=spf1 include:spf.titan.email ~all

In Network Solutions

  1. Select +ADD RECORD.
  2. Under Type, choose TXT.
  3. Set Refers to (@ for your bare domain), paste the TXT Value, and pick a TTL.
  4. Select ADD.
  5. Repeat for each TXT record above.

Set up DKIM

DKIM publishes a public key so receivers can confirm your messages really came from you and were not changed on the way.

Type
TXT
Refers to
<selector>._domainkey
TXT Value
Copy it from Titan Email Control Panel (see below)

Refers to: Copy the DNS Host Name shown with your DKIM record in the Titan Email Control Panel.

Where to find your value

In the Titan Email Control Panel, open the Email Reputation tab (or click the Improve Email Reputation banner). Under Add DKIM record, click Add and copy the TXT value.

  • After adding the record, select I've added TXT records in my DNS control panel and click Verify changes.
  • Titan doesn't allow more than one DKIM TXT value under the same selector.
  • A new DKIM record can take up to 6 hours to propagate.

In Network Solutions

  1. Select +ADD RECORD.
  2. Under Type, choose TXT.
  3. Set Refers to (@ for your bare domain), paste the TXT Value, and pick a TTL.

Add the DMARC record (recommended)

DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails SPF and DKIM, and where to send reports about it.

Type
TXT
Refers to
_dmarc
TXT Value
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:admin@yourdomain.com
  • Replace the address with your own. Later move p=none to quarantine and then reject.

  2. Under Type, choose TXT.
  3. Set Refers to (@ for your bare domain), paste the TXT Value, and pick a TTL.
  4. Select ADD.

Check your setup

Once the records are saved, run a live check. We look up your domain in public DNS and tell you what is right, missing or wrong, with the fix in Network Solutions’s words.

We only read public DNS records. Nothing is stored.

Common mistakes with Titan Email on Network Solutions

Adding records where DNS isn't managed

Records must go in the authoritative DNS zone, which may be different from where you bought the domain.

Two DKIM values under one selector

Titan rejects more than one TXT value under the same DKIM selector. Paste exactly the value from the control panel.

Network Solutions: Values must not end with a dot

Network Solutions doesn't accept a final period on mail server or CNAME targets. Enter them without the trailing dot.
